3 Great Ways to Enjoy Liverwurst

By June 13, 2019No Comments

Braunschweiger Liverwurst is one of the most nutritious, freezable, versatile deli meats on the gourmet food market today. Unfortunately, many people don’t realize just how many great dishes may be made with it. Instead, they merely slap a slice between two pieces of bread and chow down. So to help change that perception, we wanted to share a few liverwurst dishes that are just too good to pass by:

Liverwurst Dip
If you’ve got a roll of Braunschweiger Liverwurst at home and company’s on the way, make dip! Simply combine a cup of the creamy liverwurst deli meat along with ½ cup of onion-flavored sour cream, 2 tablespoons of pickle relish, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of horseradish mustard together. Then serve it alongside of the dippers of your choice or use it as a topping.

Savory Scallion Cakes
Speaking of which, savory scallion cupcakes and pancakes taste great topped with liverwurst dip. The cakes are normally made with shredded cheese, chopped scallions and sour cream. Recipes that explain how to make the cakes are available all over the internet. However, most of those cakes are topped with scallion flavored cream cheese. We say skip the cream cheese and go with deli meat inspired toppings instead!

Meatballs and Spaghetti
Liverwurst may also be combined with ground beef or tomato sauce for a kick butt version of spaghetti and meatballs. Just blend equal amounts of the two different meats with a package of our Caramelized French Onion Dip seasoning packet, eggs and bread crumbs. Then form and cook the meatballs like you normally would and add them to the spaghetti sauce before plating up the meal for your family. Oh, and by the way, the same meat blend could be used to make a killer meatloaf too!
